Key facts about Autism:-

  • Autism is one of a group of serious developmental problems called autism spectrum disorders (ASD) that appear in early childhood — usually before age 3.

  • Though symptoms and severity vary, all autistic conditions affect an individual's ability to communicate and interact with others.

  • The adult life of an autistic person is very much different from everyone else’s. The challenges your child faces now may seem like they would impact the life of your child as an adult and they probably will, but with timely transition planning and intervention, things can be easier for them.

  • Along with care of autistic individuals at home and several actions need to be implemented at community and societal level for better accessibility, support, and inclusivity.

  • Several researchers have concluded that with timely diagnosis and intervention 3% to 25% of autistic individuals lose their ASD diagnosis and develop social, cognitive, and adaptive skills.

Can you outgrow autism?

There is no definite yes or no answer for this, it's more about working with and growing into the symptoms of autism. According to the DSM criteria, autism is often diagnosed in the early years of age and persists throughout a person’s life. Some people understand it and learn to mask it at least in some situations.
